Vishwaguruji at the UN June 2015
On June 10th at the United Nation Headquarters in New York, Vishwaguruji meet with the Ambassador Asoke K Mukerji, Permanent Representative of India to UN, and the Counsellor Prakash Gupta. Also attending the meeting were Georgian Ambassador, Mr. Kaha Imnadze, and Mr. Ramu Damodaran, Deputy Director in the UN-DPI's Outreach Division.
The focus of the meeting was the upcoming celebration of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations on 21st June. Prior to the meeting Vishwaguruji received an official invitation by the Indian Ambassador Mr. Mukerji to participate in this event, but because of previous arrangements to attend the IDY celebration in New Delhi, Vishwaguruji was not able to accept this invitation.
During this meeting Vishwaguruji was able to present a history of the Yoga in Daily Life system, activities and projects of the YIDL international community, as well as its engagement as NGO at the UN.
Vishwaguruji expressed his wholehearted support of this initiative of the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi in establishing the International Day of Yoga. The international community of Yoga in Daily Life will join in celebration of IDY by participating in the programs organized by Indian Consulates and Embassies, and through offering free yoga programs around the world.
His Excellency Ambassador Asoke K Mukerji was optimistic about the impact of IDY on the future of yoga, as a catalyst for a positive change. Mr. Prakash Gupta was presenting the program of celebration of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations in which Yoga in Daily Life will be represented by its New York members.
